Board of Directors

Robin Gadsby, MA, MEng, MBA, completed a 36-year career at ICI PLC as President North America, ICI Chemicals&Polymers and served as a Director of ICI Americas Inc. for ten years. Mr. Gadsby has a wealth of experience in developing and leading successful specialty and commodity chemicals businesses. He led the strategic work in London that resulted in the acquisition by ICI of the Unilever specialty chemicals businesses which repositioned ICI from being largely a business of disparate bulk commodities to being a higher value added specialty chemicals business. Since leaving ICI, Mr. Gadsby has served as a Director of The Catalyst Group, Venture Biologics LLC, Ricerca LLC and from 2006 as Chairman of Cempra Pharmaceuticals Inc. a new biotechnology drug discovery and development company. Mr. Gadsby has an MA in Natural Sciences and an MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He attended the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD, France. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Chemical Society, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Garheng Kong, MD, PhD, MBA, General Partner, joined Intersouth Partners in 2000. He has board involvement with most of Intersouth’s life science companies. Garheng has full-cycle investing experience, successfully sourcing, syndicating, managing and exiting investments. He has also served as interim CEO for two Intersouth portfolio companies. Prior to Intersouth, Garheng worked at GlaxoWellcome and McKinsey & Company. Garheng received his M.D., Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, and M.B.A. from Duke University—graduating at the top of his medical and business school classes. He also holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. He is active in the community and currently serves on the board of directors of the North Carolina Medical Device Organization, the SEBIO organization, the Corporate Chaplains of America and has served on the Duke University Medical Center Institutional Review Board. Garheng is also on faculty at the Duke School of Business as a Senior Scholar.

I. Wistar Morris III, BA, MBA, of Villanova, Pennsylvania, is a Director of Boenning &Scattergood, an Investment Securities firm in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. Previously, he served as Senior Investment Consultant for Pennsylvania Trust Company, and as President and Chairman of Morris Investment Management Company, Inc. He has chaired the Investment and Finance committees as a Trustee of the Presbyterian Medical Center. Mr. Morris received a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Cornell University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He has been on the boards of 19 public and private companies.

Andrew Schiff, MD, MBA joined Aisling Capital in September of 1999 and currently serves as a Managing Director. Prior to that, he practiced internal medicine at The New York Presbyterian Hospital where he maintains his position as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. He currently serves as a director of Adams Respiratory Therapeutics, Inc., ArgiNOx Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Bioenvision, Inc., CardioKine, Inc., and SkinMedica, Inc. Dr. Schiff received his M.D. from Cornell University Medical College and his M.B.A. from Columbia University. His bachelor's degree in neuroscience was awarded with honors by Brown University.

Prabhavathi Fernandes, PhD, President and CEO of Cempra Pharmaceuticals has more than 25 years of experience in drug discovery and development at major biopharma companies (Squibb, Abbott, BMS) She has been directly involved in the development of numerous drugs, four of which have been approved by the FDA and one with sales of over a billion dollars. She has served as CEO of DarPharma, and CEO of Ricerca Biosciences LLC, a contract R&D company. Dr. Fernandes was a founder and CEO/CSO of Small Molecule Therapeutics (SMT), where she managed the discovery of three lead compounds. She served on the U.S. Congressional Panel for Assessment of Impact of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria and on the American Society for Microbiology Advisory Panel on Antibiotic Resistance. She was the President of the Society for Biomolecular Screening and has served on NCI grant review panels. Her industrial career was preceded by various academic and scientific posts at Temple University, the University of Ghent, Belgium, and the Fox Chase Cancer Center. Dr. Fernandes has authored numerous publications, edited four books, and is an editor of several journals. She received her Ph.D., Microbiology from Thomas Jefferson University.

Louis Leeburg has served as a Director of LightPath Technologies Inc. since May 1996. He also serves on the Company's Audit and Finance Committees. Mr. Leeburg is a self-employed business consultant, who is also on the board of three other not for profit organizations. From 1988 until 1993 he was the Vice President for Finance of The Fetzer Institute, Inc. From 1980 to 1988 he was in financial positions with different organizations with an emphasis in investment management. Mr. Leeburg was an audit manager for Price Waterhouse &Co. until 1980. Mr. Leeburg received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Arizona State University. He is a member of Financial Foundation Officers Group and the treasurer and trustee for the John E. Fetzer Memorial Trust Fund and The Institute for Noetic Sciences.
